ANTON FRANZ HOEGER
Anton Franz Hoeger was born in Munich in 1956 and now lives and works near Dallas, Texas, with his wife and longtime muse. His artistic background is rooted in the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism, where he studied as a master student of Prof. Ernst Fuchs.
In 2017, Hoeger gained wider recognition with a solo exhibition at the Museum Meštrović Pavilion (HDLU) in Zagreb, which received an honorary award as one of the most successful exhibitions of the year.
Hoeger considers himself a realist. Working with a highly detailed and disciplined technique, Hoeger creates paintings that blend realism with imagination. His works are not intended as political or moral statements, but as carefully constructed visual worlds that invite close observation.
While his foundation lies in Fantastic Realism, his development has also been shaped by modern artists such as Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Sigmar Polke. Their influence can be felt in the way Hoeger bridges classical technique with a contemporary sensibility.
